Advanced Imaging
Some specialized heart imaging tests are performed at dedicated radiology centers.
If your care plan includes one of these studies, we’ll coordinate your referral and review the results with you.
All of these tests are non-invasive and safe, with each providing unique insights into your heart health. We’ll guide you through the process, coordinate the referral, and personally review your results so you have a clear understanding of what they mean for your care.
1
Coronary Calcium Score
Coronary Calcium Score (CAC): A quick CT scan that measures calcium buildup in your coronary arteries—an excellent early-screening tool for heart disease risk.
2
Coronary CT Angiography
Coronary CT Angiography (CTA): A detailed CT scan with contrast that creates 3D images of your heart and vessels, showing both calcified and soft plaque.
3
Cardiac MRI
Cardiac MRI: An advanced imaging test that uses magnets (no radiation) to capture detailed pictures of your heart’s structure, pumping function, and tissue health.
4
Cardiac PET Scan
Cardiac PET Scan: A highly sensitive imaging study that evaluates blood flow to the heart muscle and can measure how well your heart metabolizes energy. It is especially helpful in detecting hidden blockages and assessing viability of the heart muscle after damage.
